Vedic Astrology as a Science

Vedic astrology is also called a science owing to its intricate relationship with the science of planets and their impact on human life. For instance, the Sun’s radiation has effects on human health and the Moon affects human psychology considerably. Many thousands of years ago, ancient Vedic astrologers from India developed a method to calculate a time of day or night that was auspicious and sacred for a specific event, which you wished to perform. There are different combinations of the five elements of ‘Panchang’ that have auspicious and inauspicious values attached to them. For example, the 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th and new moon, also called Amavasya, are avoided.

Of the twenty seven ‘Nakshatras’ or constellations, ‘Bharani’ and ‘Kritika’ are considered inauspicious in Vedic astrology when it comes to Muhurta. Of the ‘Yogas’ 6th, 9th, 10th, 17th and 27th are inauspicious and of the ‘Karanas’ ‘Bhadra’ is the most inauspicious.
